Contemporary photographer

little bit about me ...

My work is my passion it helps me to be creative in everyday life, the beauty that creativity allows me to produce, satisfies my ambitions and visualises my ideas as a contemporary photographer and artist.

Where it all began ...

As with most children my fascination with art and expressing myself started at a young age. Drawing with my grandparents inspired me to further my creativity continuing to follow this path in and out of school, until stumbling upon professional fine art photography at university. Here my work increasingly involved the theme of homelessness mainly because, on moving to the city of Exeter away from home i started to realise the huge problem of homelessness that the city has. My lack of knowledge on this subject pushed me to find out more so i decided to volunteer at the big issue, from this an explosion of curiosity and a need to help those in difficult situations arose. I started to realise how lucky i actually was coming from a solid, stable environment this made me feel as though it was my duty to help others who aren’t as privileged as i am. People who influenced my work and myself as a person are my highschool/college/university art teachers, Salvadore Dali, Blek Le Rat, and The Chapman Brothers.

So Far Artistically ...

I gained a 2:1 in BA Hons - Fine Art along with An Art in the community award for my degree show project. Throughout my time at university i was always progressing towards a final outcome but never reached it until my final degree show this was a big milestone for me. I feel it truly conveys what i had been trying to say the whole time in it’s purest form, that inspired me to continue my work. The projects i enjoyed the most and got the most out of were when i worked directly with people, this i will be continuing.

The World Wide Web ...

This site not only allows me to raise awareness of the subjects i’m passionate about but also allows my digital portfolio to share the beauty of the places i’ve been, to give a snapshot of a moment like a sunset or a harbour at night for people to enjoy. To me my home is my haven away from the stress and non stop lifestyle of the world today. For me making my home somewhere i relax surrounded by photos and artwork that inspire and give me a feeling of well being helps me to balance the modern day life. It has long been my ambition to share these experiences, this website allows me to showcase all aspects of my life, raise awareness of the subjects i feel strongly about and to share the beauty of the world that is all around us. The site also serves as a digital portfolio of my work as a contemporary photographer. It has also allowed me to help others through my work and art portfolios by planting a tree every time one of my prints is sold i can help to restore the balance of the natural world i love so much to photograph. It really excites me that i am able to create an organic website that is environmentally friendly and that every piece of home decor for your wall helps a little to rebuild the planet and help the people that need it most.

The Future ...

In my opinion creativity is a very important aspect of life i hope that i can keep inspiring others to use this and i also wish to keep raising awareness for ecologically friendly produce and to help more countries and people.
